Our Therapists

Rachel Fryman, PhD LCSW

Director of Education

I work with amazing people who are struggling with life transitions, relationships, and the toll that distracted living is taking on their personal and professional lives. I am truly inspired by the way that my clients approach life, and see the time that we work together as a chance to slow down, and make the rest of the week a bit calmer and more manageable.

My therapy style is supportive and practical. Together we’ll explore the ups and downs, including what might be getting in the way of better relationships, academic achievement, job performance, and overall well-being in this process of self-discovery.

Director of Clinical Services

I work with clients that are struggling to cope throughout the day. Sometimes life gets to be too much, but that doesn’t mean that you are not enough.

My therapy style helps clients turn their inner monologue into a “dialogue”. Through therapy, clients learn to talk back to the negative loop running through their heads, helping clients achieve a greater sense of satisfaction in their daily lives. My process combines Cognitive Therapy with a strengths-based approach.

I work with adults experiencing various forms of trauma, individuals dealing with difficult family dynamics, as well as with those who identify as adult children of immigrant parents. We focus on exploring how the past affects the present, studying the beliefs that comes up in the body, how you hold old wounds, and looking at what kind of changes you want to make. We then go into the deep work of studying what shows up in your mind/body, how it affect your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, exploring all the different parts of you that originated from your past/present experiences. Together, we look at how to integrate all the different parts, make spaces for all the wounds, and allow for healing to come within, where you gain more flexibility and choices in how you want to proceed in life.

My therapeutic approach prioritizes creating an environment that is warm and nonjudgmental, recognizing the courage it takes to reach out to make value-guided change. I utilize integrative and evidence-based approaches to build on inherent strengths and facilitate meaningful movement towards goals while creatively collaborating with my clients. I believe that we all possess the capacity to live uniquely fulfilling lives, most often identified by healthy relationships with self and others. Therapy is intended to be a safe enough place to explore life's challenges while crafting alternative responses which ultimately leads to freedom and healing. Person centered, relational, and behavioral theories tend to be present during my therapeutic sessions, although in order to meet each individual client where they are, flexibility is essential in this work.

I completed a year-long interdisciplinary fellowship sponsored by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau focused on Leadership in Adolescent Health and am trained in evidence-based interventions, including TF-CBT, EMDR, and PCIT. My research interest is youth trauma, specifically experiences with cyberbullying, abuse, and the impact on the parent-child relationship. I have presented at the local, regional, national, and international levels on the topics of cyberbullying and internet safety among youth. I have also been recognized as a leader in social work education by completing the Council on Social Work Education’s Program Director Academy, a competitive leadership certificate program.

By combining modalities, I strive to provide comprehensive and effective support, guiding clients towards making positive change and improved well-being.
