About Me
I have over 20 years of experience as a social worker across multiple settings, including a children’s advocacy center, school district, foster care agency, child and adolescent psychiatry outpatient clinic, juvenile detention center, and mental health clinic. Currently, I have a private practice in Rochester, NY, where I specialize in treating acute, complex, and developmental trauma among adolescents and young adults. Additionally, I am a Clinical Associate Professor of Social Work at the University at Buffalo. Previously, I was a Professor of Social Work at Roberts Wesleyan University, where I also served as the Master of Social Work Program Director, Co-Chair of the Department of Social Work, and Co-Dean of the School of Education and Social Work.
I completed a year-long interdisciplinary fellowship sponsored by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau focused on Leadership in Adolescent Health and am trained in evidence-based interventions, including TF-CBT, EMDR, and PCIT. My research interest is youth trauma, specifically experiences with cyberbullying, abuse, and the impact on the parent-child relationship. I have presented at the local, regional, national, and international levels on the topics of cyberbullying and internet safety among youth. I have also been recognized as a leader in social work education by completing the Council on Social Work Education’s Program Director Academy, a competitive leadership certificate program.
